Sony Pictures Television has brought on Kate Gill as SVP, Comedy Development. In her new role, she will focus on developing new comedy series for all platforms for the U.S. scripted division. Reporting to Colin Davis, EVP, Comedy Development, Gill will be based in SPT’s Culver City, CA headquarters and starts her new role on May 13.
“Kate has established a well-deserved reputation as a true tastemaker and a talent-friendly executive. Her strong relationships, varied experiences, and passionate outlook will be an essential asset to the team as we dive into this new era of comedy television,” said Davis.
Most recently, Gill was SVP of development for Paramount Television Studios, where she oversaw the Paramount+ musical series Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies and shepherded the critically acclaimed limited series Station Eleven and half hour comedy Made For Love for HBO Max. Previously, she worked at YouTube Originals as the development and current executive for multiple series including Weird City and SPT’s On Becoming A God In Central Florida. Prior to YouTube, Gill worked for the late executive producer Jamie Tarses at her SPT-based production company FanFare and for the comedy company JASH, heading up TV development.
“I’m so happy to return to the Sony Pictures Television family,” said Gill. “They have such a strong legacy in comedy and have fostered relationships with so many talented and funny people. I can’t wait to jump in with Colin and the team.”
