‘Antiques Roadshow’ star Theo Burrell dead at 39 after four-year battle with brain cancer

“Antiques Roadshow” star Theo Burrell has died at age 39 following a four-year battle with brain cancer.

Burrell’s family announced the tragic news in a statement shared on the reality star’s Instagram Sunday.

“It is with great sadness that I share the news that Theo passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday afternoon. Neither she nor her medical team foresaw this happening quite so quickly,” the family wrote, alongside a photo of Burrell holding her dog, Pip.

The message continues on, honoring Burrell as an “incredible person who fought hard for her family, friends and raising awareness of this cruel disease.”

“She saw life events like her son’s first day at school and her wedding that a little over 4 years ago we thought she’d never see.”

Burrell tied the knot with her husband, Alex, on March 28. In 2020, she and Alex welcomed a son, Jonah.

Burrell was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, in June 2022. At the time, doctors gave her a prognosis of 12 to 18 months left to live. Over the course of four years, the star underwent brain surgery and 17 rounds of chemotherapy.

“The cancer community provided so much comfort and strength to her in her darkest moments. But most of all it provided hope and I think what she would want most of all is for other people to find hope in her story,” the family’s message reads.

“Hope that the statistics aren’t gospel and that one day they’ll be very different.”

During her fight with cancer, Burrell dedicated her time and her voice to causes that supported cancer research and awareness. In May, she partnered with the Department of Health and Social Care, appearing in a video to campaign for greater funding devoted to cancer research.

“I am running out of treatment options and I will lose my life to this cancer,” Burrell said at the time. “There’s absolutely no doubt about it.”

“Things may be too late for me, but I definitely can make peace with that if I know that the situation’s gonna be better for future patients.”

As fans may recall, Burrell started as a specialist on “Antiques Roadshow” in 2018. According to the BBC, she was a ceramics and glass expert with Lyon & Turnbull auctioneers in Edinburgh, since in 2011,
