As we patiently await warmer temperatures and summer Fridays, it seems like beauty brands are joining in on the countdown with the latest summer beauty trend: golden hour glam. In recent weeks, brands like Patrick Ta Beauty, Pat McGrath Labs, and Fenty Beauty are leaning into vacation vibes with sunset-inspired products you’ll want to slip into your carry-on.
What is golden hour glam? Exactly as the name implies, it evokes the beautiful golden lighting that hits during sunset. Makeup artist Patrick Ta, who coined the term ‘golden hour blush,’ has been creating the look on famous clients like Karol G, Alix Earle, and Ayra Starr.
“Golden hour blush is typically best in a peachy, golden hue to give skin that ‘I just got back from vacation’ effect,” Ta says. “It’s a go-to for those looking to achieve a more sun-kissed look thanks to its warm, natural peach tone that brings a natural warmth to the cheeks.”
Ta created the shade She’s the Moment to be “golden hour in a blush.” “Its peachy-coral coloring washes the skin with such a glowing effect that makes it look like you’re always in good lighting,” he says.

Makeup artist Pat McGrath, who recently added new sunset-inspired shades to her Divine Cream Blush: Legendary Glow Colour Balm collection, agrees, adding that golden hour glam looks stunning on everyone.
“It captures that radiant flush of warmth the light gives you during that magical time when the whole world is bathed in liquid gold,” says McGrath. “That enchanting glow of daybreak or twilight looks magical on every skin tone. The key is to use soft-focus pigments that diffuse seamlessly onto skin, creating an aura of incandescence that flatters every complexion.”
McGrath loves the Legendary Glow Colour Balm for golden hour glam, which features skin-loving ingredients like squalane and passion fruit extract to give you an effortless finish. “It melts into skin for a seamless, dewy, just-been-kissed-by-the-sun glow,” she says. To get a sunset-inspired look, she recommends the shade Electric Bloom Glow, a vivid orange that works for all skin tones.

For flawless skin without any filters, Fenty Beauty launched the Soft’Lit Naturally Luminous Longwear Foundation, which is described by the brand as “golden hour glow bottled.” It comes in the same 50 shades as the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Foundation, but contains skin-enhancing ingredients like easy-gleam oils, polymers, cyperus papyrus leaf cell extract, and kakadu plum extract to create luminous complexion that deeply hydrates skin.
Fenty Beauty founder Rihanna spent a “long time” developing the foundation. “To get that perfect amount of luminosity that’s not too greasy, we needed to make sure that the formula not only delivered the right amount of coverage, but delivered skin-enhancing ingredients to brighten and hydrate and mimic the beauty of skin,” she said in a press release. “We created that special level of radiance mixed with the high-performance wear Fenty Beauty foundation is known for.”

Both Ta and McGrath recommend cream formulas, which are easy to wear during summertime and hotter temperatures. To get the look, Ta begins with a flawless base. “I like to start by applying concealer under the eye where I want all of my brightness to be, and baking with setting powder,” he says. “Before brushing away the bake, I reach for the powder side of She’s the Moment, applying this to the apples of the cheeks, using this to also blend the bake away.”
For long-wear that lasts through summer heat, Ta adds cream blush on top for a skin-like finish. “I apply the cream blush on top of the powder to melt everything together and bring the skin back to life with a sunset-like glow.”
McGrath says you can easily create golden hour glam using just your fingers. “To achieve this dreamy, sun-kissed look, prep your face with Sublime Perfection Primer and Sublime Perfection Foundation,” she says. “Then, using a plush blush brush or fingers, smile and apply our Divine Cream Blush: Legendary Glow Color Balm to the apples of your cheeks, diffusing it outward for a radiant, diffused effect.”
