Actress Selenis Leyva was completely unaware that something romantic was brewing between Tom Holland and Zendaya when she filmed Spider-Man: Homecoming alongside Hollywood’s “it” couple.
Leyva stopped by the Bravo Clubhouse for Sunday night’s (April 21) episode of Watch What Happens Live, where host Andy Cohen asked if she saw “sparks” between the lovebirds while they were filming the 2017 superhero film.
“They kept it under wraps,” Leyva said. “They’re so professional — and the nicest people. Tom Holland is the sweetest. He came up to me, made sure he introduced himself, was so generous, was so kind. And she’s just lovely.”
She added, “But I didn’t suspect anything. But I was all for it. When I heard, I was really happy.”
Zendaya and Holland, who met while filming Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016, first sparked dating rumors in 2017. However, they insisted that they were merely close friends at the time.
“We are friends,” Zendaya said in an August 2017 interview with Variety. “He’s a great dude. He’s literally one of my best friends. This past how many months we’ve had to do press tours together. There’s very few people that will understand what that’s like at 20 years old.”
It wasn’t until the duo was caught sharing a steamy kiss in 2021 that their relationship was officially confirmed. While they tend to keep their personal lives private, fans are offered occasional glimpses into their relationship via adorable Instagram tributes and interviews.
For instance, Holland revealed to Extra that he and the Euphoria star sometimes like to rewatch their old Spider-Man movies.
“Zendaya and I will, every now and then, watch Spider-Man 1 and reminisce about being 19 and making those movies again,” he told the outlet in January. “I love those movies, and I love savoring those moments, so I try not to watch them as often as I would maybe like to because it’s so special. It’s such a luxury, such a gift to be able to sit down and sort of relive your youth.”
The following month, Zendaya gushed over Holland’s “beautiful charisma” in an interview with Buzzfeed.
“I think someone who has beautiful charisma, not on the Dune cast, but personally works for me, is Mr. Tom Holland,” she said. “I’m more shy and kind of quiet. So it takes a bit more to pull me out of my shell. But he’s great at just talking to people, getting to know people.”
Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
