Netflix has announced the start of principal photography on action thriller Ad Vitam led by French star Guillaume Canet.
Canet co-wrote the screenplay with Rodolphe Lauga in association with David Corona. Canet also produces with Jean Cottin under the Cabanes banner.
Lauga is directing. His previous credits include love-triangle comedy It’s Complicated, surfing drama La Source and Amazon Studios picture I Don’t Love You Either.
Canet stars as escaped murder suspect Franck Lazareff with other cast members including Stéphane Caillard, Nassim Lyes, Zita Hanrot and Alexis Manenti.
The official logline reads: “After escaping an attempted murder, Franck Lazareff must find his wife Leo, who has been kidnapped by a mysterious group of armed men. He is caught up by his past and plunged into a state affair that is beyond him.”
Filming in Paris and Versailles will run from April 8 to June 20, 2024. Ad Vitam will play exclusively on Netflix in 2025.
Canet is currently on the big screen in France with Stéphane Brizé’s romantic drama Out of Season with upcoming films including costume drama La Déluge.
Further high profile French-language Netflix feature film productions currently in the works include the recently announced untitled thriller starring Vincent Cassel set against the music scene.
