The guest host of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, comedian and actor Tiffany Haddish, skewered President Donald Trump’s Great American State Fair by contrasting his claims of packed crowds with footage showing visibly sparse attendance on the National Mall.
Haddish told the audience Trump promised the event would be “packed to the brim.” The program cut to clips of reporters claiming heavy attendance despite the sparse crowd, according to Mediaite.
After a montage revealed Fox News framing empty scenes as festivities “in full swing,” according to The Daily Beast, Haddish delivered two sharp one-liners, “There was more people at my bat mitzvah” and her kicker, “There was more people at my DUI trial.”
Haddish is set to stand trial next month in Fayette County, Georgia, on charges stemming from a January 2022 arrest in Peachtree City, according to Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The 16-day fair, run by Trump’s Freedom 250 organization, has faced multiple failures, including power outages that disrupted a 110-foot Ferris wheel, melted ice cream, and musical acts withdrawing over the event’s partisan nature, reports Forbes.
Trump claimed the fair drew 45,000 attendees one night without evidence.
“Trump was forced to delay his Fourth of July speech due to the hot and stormy weather,” she said, “In fact, some MAGA fans had to seek shelter in the African-American history museum.”
As the crowd applauded, she added, “You’re welcome, again.”
