Dolly Parton’s sister Stella is calling out the “stampede of endless misinformation” regarding the country music icon following her death at 80.
“First let me say thank you to the ones of you who have shown ‘genuine’ support and love during this time of our family bereavement,” Stella began in her statement shared via Instagram Friday.
She let her followers know that she “will be okay in time” but is currently grieving in her “own personal way.”
Stella acknowledged that every family goes through loss and grief, however, their family has had to do so in the public eye, which has made it extra challenging.
“Sadly, because of the way our lives have been lived in front of the public, we have no choice but to be subjected to incredible pressure and insensitivity from strangers. There is a tremendous amount of AI and endless garbage being posted everyday and it’s been challenging to absorb and ignore.”
She continued, “As time passes, those who are in the business of exploiting the loss and tragedies of others on a daily basis will move on to the next stampede of endless information.”
The 77-year-old didn’t give note to what specific misinformation she was referring to, but went on to highlight how much Dolly “loved her fans” and would be “delighted” to see all the love her and her family have received throughout this difficult time.
She concluded her message by explaining that Dolly’s love for all of her fans was the reason why the Grammy winner “chose not to express her opinions on a lot of things like politics, religion and individuals in the public eye.”
Fans in the comments section slammed those who are being “disrespectful” to the music icon following her death and praised Dolly’s legacy of philanthropy.
The “9 to 5” songstress, notably, was involved in philanthropic endeavors throughout her entire career that span from childhood literacy, medical research, disaster relief and education.
Her Imagination Library organization has gifted more than 300 million booksto children under 5 since its inception, and will continue to run after her death.
The songwriter died on Aug. 25 following a secret cancer battle. Just as she kept her health private, her family has kept her burial out of the spotlight as much as they can.
Page Six exclusively reported that the singer was laid to rest in an intimate burial three days after her passing.
Her cousin Richie Owens later revealed details about the touching memorial.
“She wanted to keep it very quiet,” he said on the “Today” show. “The word keeps getting brought up, ‘a funeral.’ I don’t believe that is really the case in the situation.
“It was a burial to be buried beside her husband, [Carl Thomas Dean],” he continued. “She wanted it very small.”
He added, “It was very quiet, very quickly done and not for any bad reasons whatsoever. It’s just what she wanted. She wanted to keep it very, very private.”
