Massive brawl breaks out inside FIFA Fanzone on National Mall during USMNT World Cup game

Wild video shows hordes of soccer fans brawling inside a FIFA Fanzone on Washington’s National Mall during the US-Belgium World Cup clash, which the USMNT ultimately lost 4-1.

Unruly fans scuffled and some threw punches amid Monday’s chaotic scenes that escalated after an argument between just two people, WJLA reported Tuesday.

One man was seen locking in a headlock on another – and he ended up on the ground.

Other fans caused chaos by hurling water from plastic bottles and throwing punches of their own.

One person was escorted out of the fan zone, a US Park Police spokesperson told WJLA.

It’s not clear if they were involved in the brawl.

It’s not known how many fans were injured — and the extent of any injuries remains unknown.

Hordes of fans have been packing out the National Mall to watch the World Cup games on a huge jumbotron.

Even though USA has been eliminated, fans will be able to watch the quarter finals, semis, and final at the fan park.

The World Cup also coincides with America 250 celebrations.

“The FIFA World Cup 2026 Fan Zone on the National Mall will help welcome the world to America during the nation’s 250th year,” Keith Krach, the CEO of Freedom 250, said in a release.

“This will be a place where people from every corner of the globe come together through sport, freedom, and shared human experience in the shadow of America’s most iconic monuments.”

Mauricio Pochettino’s team was outclassed by Belgium in the round of 16 match played in Seattle – a hurdle that the USMNT has not managed to clear since 2002.

Belgium took a 1-0 lead through Charles De Ketelaere before Malik Tillman tied the game. De Ketelaere scored for the second time before Hans Vanaken capitalized on a Matt Freese error.

Ex-Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku completed the 4-1 rout.

The build-up of the game was overshadowed by FIFA’s decision to overturn Folarin Balogun’s red card that he had picked up in the round of 32 match against Bosnia.

Belgium will now go on to play Spain in Los Angeles on Friday.

The Post has approached US Park Police for comment.
