Lionel Richie’s ex-wife gives update on singer’s health days after being rushed to hospital

Lionel Richie’s ex-wife, Brenda Harvey-Richie, revealed the musician is on the mend after he was rushed to the hospital mid-performance last week.

“Thanking everyone for their concern,” the songwriter wrote via XThursday, in response to a news report about the 77-year-old musician’s hospitalization.

“Lionel is OK and will be back on the stage.”

A rep for Richie did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

The “Hello” crooner and Harvey-Richie, 74, were married from 1975 to 1993, and share daughter Nicole Richie, 44.

Additionally, he was wed to Diane Alexander from 1995 to 2004, and the exes are the parents to Miles Richie, 32, and Sofia Richie, 27.

The “All Night Long” singer was performing at the opening night of his “Sing a Song All Night Long” tour at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota, when he suffered a dizzy spell less than an hour into the show on Wednesday.

Lionel was seen in videos taking a seat multiple times while singing his 1986 track “Dancing on the Ceiling.”

“When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your ass down,” he told the audience.

The Grammy winner attempted to push through his illness before deciding to take a break, and later saxophonist Dino Soldo announced that the show was canceled because the hitmaker was “not feeling well.”

“He won’t be able to continue. Additional information will be available,” Soldo said.

Live Nation announced that Lionel would be cancelling his following two shows in Chicago and Ohio on Thursday and Friday, respectively.

“Under advisement by doctors to rest and return to full health, Lionel Richie has postponed his next two shows,” the social media post read.

“Lionel is heartbroken to postpone these two shows and cannot wait to be back performing for his fans.”

“We apologize for any inconvenience this causes fans who have tickets for these two shows. Rescheduled dates will be announced soon,” the statement continued.

However, the “Endless Love” singer is expected to return to the stage alongside his co-headliner Earth, Wind & Fire.

Lionel has yet to personally address the incident.
