Trump insults Republican he pulls on stage: ‘Nobody wants to hear from you’

Pennsylvania Republican Rep. Ryan Mackenzie was the recipient of a dig courtesy of President Donald Trump on Tuesday.

Mackenzie joined Trump in Macungie, where the 80-year-old president delivered remarks to a Mack Trucks assembly plant.

During Trump’s rambling speech, the president introduced four MAGA “warriors,” including Mackenzie. As Mackenzie sat by patiently waiting for the president to allow him on stage, Trump told his fans, “These guys are in good shape, but we gotta get Ryan Mackenzie elected.”

As fans cheered, Trump declared, “I’m not here for them, I’m here for him. We gotta get Ryan elected.”

Mackenzie represents Pennsylvania’s 7th District, a seat he won in 2024 by about 1 percentage point, unseating Democratic incumbent Susan Wild. This year, he faces Democrat Bob Brooks, a firefighters’ union leader and retired firefighter. The race is expected to be one of the most likely in the nation to flip.

It was then that the president took the opportunity to insult the House Republican.

“Run up here, Ryan. Fast. No one wants to hear you. Just run. Nobody wants to hear you, Ryan,” Trump quipped.

Mackenzie obliged, trotting up the stairs to the microphone, which, set up for the 6-foot-4-inch Trump, came up past his nose. Despite the jab, Mackenzie, whose district includes Allentown, thanked the president.

“Mr. President, I can’t thank you enough for coming here to the Lehigh Valley,” he said.

The moment was the latest example of Trump turning an event meant to boost an ally into an occasion for one of his signature off-script asides. It also came as Trump has faced criticism for becoming increasingly prone to self-aggrandizing tangents.
