A former assistant to convicted felon Jeffrey Epstein will tell House members today that she was unable to avoid his sexual abuse even when he was incarcerated.
On “Morning Joe,” legal analyst Lisa Rubin revealed that she had obtained Sarah Kellen’s opening statementto be delivered to lawmakers in a hearing on Thursday.
Kellen is one of four women who were accused of being co-conspirators as Epstein preyed on teens, which eventually led to his indictment on trafficking charges and jailing, where officials said he committed suicide.
Rubin explained to co-host Jonathan Lemire, “Well, Sarah Kellen, as you noted, was one of Jeffrey Epstein’s employees for more than a decade, and she is one of four named potential co-conspirators in his [ 2008 Florida] sweetheart deal.”
After adding, “She says, though, that he controlled her life so completely that he not only weakly abused her sexually and sometimes violently, but also controlled the narrative about how all of us saw her, that he inserted her in that sweetheart deal as a coconspirator, in part to prevent her and others similarly named from ever talking to law enforcement federally or in the states,” Rubin pointed out, “We exclusively have a copy of Sarah Kellen’s opening statement this morning to House Oversight [Committee].”
“She says that living with Jeffrey Epstein as a victim of his abuse was like living with a ‘permanent virtual reality headset’ on,” the MS NOW analyst read. “She says that it even continued while he was in jail, that he Skyped her from the Palm Beach County stockade and forced her to undress as he was sitting in jail. Let’s just let that sit for a second — he was sexually abusing her while he was in jail.”
“I think the part of Sarah Kellen’s statement that really affected me the most was when she says, from the beginning, he showed me that he was more powerful than basically anyone in the world,” she stated before reading once again, “I sat in a room in Cuba with him and Fidel Castro. I was taken to Asia and Africa with President Bill Clinton, including a lunch at the home of the Sultan of Brunei. I was at Princess Beatrice’s — that’s the daughter of former Prince Andrew — 18th birthday party at Windsor Castle and at the desert home of Sheikh Mohammed in Dubai. I sat across a table from Ehud Barak in Israel. Jeffrey was able to fool and manipulate the brightest minds in the world. Us victims didn’t stand a chance.”
