Brazen bride slaps $250 per person fee on wedding invite, guests forced to sleep on air mattresses

Holy matri-money!

A brazen bride has sparked outrage after her wedding invitation contained a $250 per person charge – with some guests forced to sleep on air mattresses in a room with people they didn’t even know.

Invites were sent out for a 3-day stay at an Airbnb that would host the wedding and reception, according to a Reddit thread.

Guests were told to arrive for Sunday one day before the wedding and celebrations would continue until Wednesday.

“We reserved an Airbnb so all our loved ones could spend the entire time together,” the invite said. “With that being said there’s no need for hotel rooms.”

But, it came at a cost – of $250 per person – and it applied to all, even the maid of honor, who would be forced to sleep on an air mattress with her partner, while a select few slept in queen-sized beds.

The bride’s extra charge was branded “tacky” and “classless” by disgruntled Redditors – with some urging the maid of honor to change her plans.

“Here’s an idea: if you can’t host your party—and that means act as host/ess, treat your guests, absorbing the cost of their presence and time—then don’t throw a big wedding,” one wrote.

“$250 is crazy for an air mattress in a shared room. I’d decline and just stay somewhere else. If they have a problem with that, I wouldn’t go,” another chimed in.

“People have gotten so damn tacky and classless just to host weddings they cannot afford,” a third said.

“3 nights on an air mattress for $500, in a room with other people? Not in a million years and not even for my best friend in the world,” said a fourth.

Scores of Redditors claimed the charge wasn’t value for money, particularly as the risk guests could stay in the Airbnb with people who they don’t know.

The maid of honor also revealed there was a dress code of semi-casual clothing, with white and burgundy off-limits.

Guests were also ordered not to wear light or dark jeans.

This particular bride isn’t the only one who has turned to imposing unexpected fees onto their guests.

One Redditor claimed an unnamed nearly-wed charged $500 per person to help cover accommodation costs – just two months before the big day.

The average cost of a wedding in the US is $36,000, Zola’s First Look report revealed.

And almost one in five couples – 18% – are opting for a two to three day wedding weekend, as opposed to a traditional wedding and reception packed into a single day.
