You May Now Call Her Mommy

Over the weekend, Alex Cooper, the host of the popular interview podcast “Call Her Daddy,” shared in an Instagram post that she was expecting her first child.

Or, as her “Daddy Gang” fan base put it, they can now call her Mommy.

The announcement came in the form of a photo carousel that Cooper posted on Sunday, featuring herself, dressed in a white crop top that exposed her bump, and her husband, the Hollywood producer Matt Kaplan, seated outdoors. The caption read: “Our family.”

She also posted videos in Instagram stories, adding that she was relieved she could “finally stop trying to hide the bump.” Her team did not respond to requests for comment, and she did not post other details.

Cooper’s announcement — as with any personal news from the host who has built her entire brand around sharing details of her private life — threw her fans into a tizzy. Some posted reaction videos on TikTok of the moment they saw her announcement while others said they were “pretty shook” by the news.

“You hid it well!!!” the veteran journalist Katie Couric said in an Instagram comment on her post.

Cooper became one of the internet’s biggest personalities and one of the country’s highest-paid podcast stars in part by sharing the intimate, unfiltered details of her sex life, including her relationship with Kaplan, whom she initially introduced to listeners as “Mr. Sexy Zoom Man” because they first met over a work-related video call. The pair were married in 2024.

As the podcast’s audience ballooned and its prominence grew, the show started focusing on in-depth interviews with figures ranging from Vice President Kamala Harris to influencers and well-known actors and musicians. Kaplan and Cooper run a media production company that includes Cooper’s Unwell Network, a podcast production business that recruits and produces projects for other internet personalities. Among them was the TikTok beauty and lifestyle influencer Alix Earle, who signed on with Unwell in 2023 to host the podcast “Hot Mess With Alix Earle.”

Last year, Cooper released a documentary, “Call Her Alex,” on Hulu about her life and her sold-out, cross-country live tour. She also hosted a weekend festival in Las Vegas featuring Paris Hilton as the event’s D.J. and a performance by male strippers.

More recently, things appeared to have soured, with Earle and Cooper parting ways in 2025 and some details of a supposed row — known online as the great Lix vs. Lex feud — spilling out into public view.

In the fall, Earle will be releasing a reality series on Netflix, titled “Earle Meets World,” that is expected to take viewers behind the scenes of her viral fame, and which her fans hope might shed some light on her fallout with Cooper.
