Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) faced ridicule from political analysts after accidentally criticizing himself during a Fox News interview with Sean Hannity Monday.
While discussing the midterm elections, Cruz attacked Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), or AOC’s, policies on entrepreneurship, alleging AOC said it’s impossible to earn a billion dollars.
“Which, look, I recognize for her, given she was a bartender, that is probably true. No disrespect to bartenders. Bartenders are an honorable profession. But she went from that to being a government employee and a parasite sucking on the taxpayer,” said Cruz.
Political observers quickly highlighted the irony of Cruz’s language, noting he too is a government employee.
Former Jeopardy! champion Hemant Mehta posted on X, “Ted Cruz just called himself a parasite sucking on the taxpayer.”
Also on X, University of Kentucky professor emeritus John F. Clark noted Cruz’s hypocrisy, pointing out that Cruz has only attended school, practiced law, and worked for government, suggesting Congress needs more bartenders and fewer lawyers.
