Luke Skywalker bubblegum card sells for over $730K

A Luke Skywalker bubblegum card has sold for $73,0072.

The Star Wars collectable, featuring the hero of the original sci-fi franchise, more than doubled a previous record for such an item.

The 1977 Topps Series 1 card, which would have come in a pack with a stick of pink gum, was described as ‘mint’ condition by Dallas-based Heritage Auctions.

Other notable Star Wars items featured as part of a sale that achieved $3,811,584.

An exhibition-quality 5-foot Millennium Falcon constructed using period-authentic Industrial Light & Magic techniques, and exhibited at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, went for $371,629.

It set a record for the highest price ever achieved for a non-production-made Star Wars model.

A Mandalorian helmet worn by Pedro Pascal in the TV series made $42,471, while a Star Wars #1 35-cent comic variant achieved $172,542.

Joe Maddalena, Executive Vice President at Heritage Auctions, said: “These results demonstrate just how powerful and expansive the Star Wars collecting universe has become. From vintage trading cards that redefined expectations—especially the Luke Skywalker rookies—to a museum-quality Millennium Falcon and record-setting comic books, we’re seeing extraordinary demand across every category.”
