Resident Evil Requiem DLC has been officially announced by Capcom. RE9 Director Akifumi Nakanishi confirmed that the studio is working on an expansion that will allow players to further dive into the game’s world.
Capcom Confirms Resident Evil Requiem DLC Story Expansion

Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem DLC is currently in development. The surprising announcement was made in a March 10 post on X on the publisher’s Japanese social media account. In the clip posted, RE9 Director Akifumi Nakanishi thanked fans from around the world who helped the game sell over 5 million copies in just under a week.
Nakanishi then surprised fans when revealing that Resident Evil Requiem DLC is coming. The Capcom developer made the announcement by holding up a piece of paper that reads “Story Expansion Now in Development.” As far as what the DLC will be about plot-wise, we didn’t get any additional information in this regard.

However, in the same video, Akifumi Nakanishi gave a brief description of the DLC, stating that it was “aiming to allow players to delve even deeper into the world of Resident Evil Requiem.” It’s also interesting that the announcement said “story expansion,” so we could get a new plot following the events of the game’s main story campaign.
Resident Evil Requiem DLC Release Date Explained

As far as when the Resident Evil Requiem DLC release date is, we currently don’t have one. In the video posted by Capcom, the RE9 director explained it would be “a little wait.” Taking translation differences into consideration, it appears the expansion won’t be dropping anytime soon.
Still, this is pretty exciting news for any fan of Resident Evil Requiem. Without getting into any story spoilers, RE9‘s campaign has some pretty major plot developments in terms of series’ lore. So it will be interesting to see where Capcom goes with the DLC.

They could, for example, have us play as Alyssa Ashcroft to further flesh out her story before the events of Requiem. The possibilities are endless! Although at this point it’s pure speculation, as Capcom has given no additional information about the RE9 DLC except to confirm that it’s currently in development.
Will Leon Kennedy romance be explored?

In the DLC announcement video, RE9 Director Akifumi Nakanishi also held up a photo featuring Leon Kennedy. In the picture, it looks like a potential love interest is cradling into him. The photo reads: “Forbidden Requiem”
It’s hard to say whether this was a joke or an official tease. The Capcom developer didn’t actually mention it as being apart of the DLC or RE9 story expansion. Regardless, the image was enough to send many fans into overdrive.
After all, Leon Kennedy appears to be wearing a wedding ring of sorts in Requiem. Could the DLC finally address Kennedy’s long-rumored romantic partner, and potential marriage? Again, pure speculation here. Regardless, the Forbidden Requiem artwork looks awesome!
Resident Evil Requiem Getting Photo Mode and New Updates

Lastly, Akifumi Nakanishi also confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem will get additional patches to continue improving gameplay and stability. More importantly, the game will be getting additional features soon.
According to the social media post, a Resident Evil Requiem Photo Mode and a short mini-game will be added to RE9 in an upcoming May 2026 patch. So yeah, there is a lot to look forward into in the RE world.
