How ‘Little Rascals’ star Brandon ‘Bug’ Hall fell from grace after Hollywood exit

Brandon “Bug” Hall has had several run-ins with the law since leaving Hollywood in 2020 to live off the grid in poverty.

Hall — best known for playing Alfalfa Switzer in the 1994 cult classic “The Little Rascals” — was arrested in Texas that June for allegedly huffing air duster cans.

At the time, a 911 caller claimed Hall may have overdosed after spotting him huffing by a hotel dumpster. When the police arrived, they discovered the “Get a Clue” actor in his hotel room surrounded by cans.

Upon investigation, Hall was arrested for misdemeanor possession for use to inhale or ingest a volatile chemical.

Then, in April 2026, Hall was arrested in Ohio and charged with failure to appear for a court date from December 2024.

Hall was previously given a traffic citation on Oct. 29, 2024, for not having liability insurance.

In 2022, Hall — who identifies as “a radical Catholic extremist” — was temporarily banned from X after he posted tweets in support of marital duty and corporal punishment of minors.

In September 2024, the “Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves” faced criticism after announcing the birth of his only son, Mark Athanasius Chad Anthony Hall-Barnett, whom he referred to as his “heir.”

When a fan pointed out that he already has daughters, he replied: “I said heir, not dishwasher.”

Following his first arrest, Hall “self-canceled” himself and moved his wife, Jill DeGroff, and their five children to a small area near Mountain Home, Arkansas.

In accordance with his religious commitment, the former actor told the Daily Mail in January that he donated all of his savings along with the majority of his material items to “maintain a life as free of any need for an income as possible.”

Page Six reported that the “Big Green” star and his family resided in a campervan with a water well and a generator.

At the time, Hall said he planned to go totally off-the-grid and build his family a house with its own hydro-electrical dam, as well as plumbing and electrical systems.

As Hall and his wife prepare to welcome their sixth baby, the “American Pie Presents: The Book of Love” star launched a GoFundMe, seeking $2,000 from the public.

“It’s now six years since I self-cancelled, and I have avoided doing one of these in all that time. I always said this was my choice, and so I didn’t want to offload the glorious burden of it unless there was no other choice. Well here we are,” Hall wrote in the description.

Hall said he and his wife fell behind on some of their bills after moving to Arkansas.

“Times are hard for everyone, and I’m no more deserving than anyone else, but I ask in your charity that you help where you can, whether monetarily, by sharing this, or by prayer and sacrifice for the Hall-Barnetts of the Holy Cross,” he wrote.

As of this publication, Hall and his family have raised nearly $21,000.
