An elderly man who may have been driving while impaired plowed his luxury car into a group of 30 cyclists in North Carolina Saturday morning — killing one and injuring 20 others, cops reportedly said.
Donald Robert Morris-Jones, 76, was driving a black Infiniti when he veered across the center line on Optimist Farm Road in Wake County around 9:40 a.m. Saturday and smashed into the group of bikers from the Capital Cyclist Club riding in the opposite direction, WRAL reported.

Morris-Jones, who authorities believe was impaired behind the wheel, then crossed back into his own lane and continued driving before he crashed into a ditch about a half-mile away, according to the Holly Springs Fire Department.
Seven cyclists sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital, while another 13 suffered minor wounds, according to Holly Springs Fire Chief LeRoy Smith.

One rider, identified as 63-year-old Patrick Turner, died at the scene.
Injuries ranged from leg and ribs injuries as well as a cut to the arm, the local station reported, citing an arrest warrant.

Morris-Jones was nabbed by police and slapped with a slew of charges including driving while impaired, felony death by vehicle, seven counts of felony serious injury by vehicle, eight counts of felony hit-and-run, reckless driving and driving left of the center.
He was booked into the Wake County Detention Center and held on a $1 million secured bond.
The road, which one of the riders told WRAL is a frequent route for the cycling club, later reopened.
