  • A dozen European flights were targeted by bomb threats on Thursday morning.
  • Flights to Ireland, Czechia, and Poland were among those sent the threats.
  • They followed a slew of threats sent on Tuesday, all of which were hoaxes.

A dozen European flights received bomb threats on Thursday, days after several airplanes were similarly targeted.

The latest incidents first came to light after France’s Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu gave a statement to news agencies about a flight from Ireland that received a threat and diverted to a French military base.

Aer Lingus Flight 402, from Dublin to Rome, was flying over Paris when it U-turned and landed at the military base, Évreux.

In a statement, the airline said the Airbus A320 diverted “as a security precaution” and landed safely.

A map of northern France uses a blue line to represent an airplane's flight path which goes over the English Channel then U-turns south of Paris and circles before reaching a military base.

No people have been reported injured, and no explosives have been reported found on any of the planes.

Later on Thursday morning, the Czech Police said on X that it received bomb threats about four aircraft heading to its capital, Prague.

The police added that it assessed the threats as of low relevance, but it did not underestimate them and activated security protocols regardless.

Also on Thursday morning, a Wizz Air flight from Milan to Warsaw diverted to Vienna.

The airline said it followed “a bomb threat received during the flight.”

“This incident comes amid a series of similar bomb threats affecting several airlines across Europe in recent days,” its statement added. “The safety and security of our passengers and crew remain our highest priority.”

Bulgarian media reported on three Ryanair flights that landed in the country after receiving bomb threats.

One from Copenhagen and one from Madrid landed in Sofia, while one from London was diverted to Plovdiv, about 80 miles away.

Ryanair did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

LOT Polish Airlines Flight 235, from Warsaw to Brussels, was also targeted.

In a statement, the airline said the crew “conducted an onboard security check” and found no suspicious items, a finding confirmed by a subsequent inspection after landing in the Belgian capital.

Two Finnair flights from Helsinki — one to Rome and another to Vienna — were also targeted, the airline told Business Insider.

“Threats are almost always unfounded,” a spokesperson said.

On Tuesday, at least seven flights were targeted by bomb threats. The UK government called them “malicious hoax threats.”

A spokesperson for the European Commission told Business Insider on Tuesday that it was “closely monitoring the situation,” but “it is too early to draw conclusions on whether the reported incidents are linked.”
