President Donald Trump blamed Fox News for Republicans’ midterm losses — but conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and other prominent MAGA figures pointed the finger straight at Trump.
“I’m 100 percent at war with Trump,” Jones said on his show as Republicans suffered bruising midterm losses, according to Wired. Jones said he had invested heavily in Trump and wondered whether he’d been blind to him.
He then blasted Trump with a claim that the president was actually a “Democrat sleeper cell.”
Other right-wing commentators had more concrete complaints. Podcaster Matt Walsh blamed the war with Iran and faulted Trump for spending time on projects such as the White House ballroom. MAGA influencers Jack Posobiec and Nick Sortor also pointed to the war in their reactions, Wired reported Wednesday.
Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said Tuesday night “was a total referendum on Trump.”
“He told people to vote like he was on the ballot and they did,” Greene told her X followers.
Trump still had some defenders. MAGA influencer Laura Loomer praised his decision to confront Iran and urged him to “finish the job.”
Meanwhile, former Fox News host Lara Logan blamed Republicans, who she claimed had engineered the defeat to “get rid of the MAGA movement and the establishment would retake the party.”
