Jeanine Pirro, the former Fox News host turned U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, disclosed 140 personal trades since April, and many appear to have been filed past a federal deadline, The Washington Sun reported on Wednesday.
Her purchases, per Office of Government Ethics records, include Tesla ($1,001 to $15,000, April 1) and SpaceX ($50,001 to $100,000, Aug. 13), both companies led by President Donald Trump’s ally Elon Musk. The Sun says she seems to have reported the Tesla buy and dozens of other trades more than 45 days after the fact, which is prohibited by the STOCK Act.
Her filing cites “a 90-day filing extension,” which the outlet says isn’t normally allowed for such reports.
Her office spokesperson, Tim Lauer, said Justice Department ethics officials check her disclosures and that she steps aside from any matter involving a covered holding, with a deputy taking over. He didn’t answer questions about the extension or the timing.
Pirro also bought $250,001 to $500,000 of a Federated Hermes government fund, $100,001 to $250,000 of PepsiCo, and $50,001 to $100,000 of AT&T. She owns at least $15,001 in about 40 companies, the point at which recusal is triggered, including Microsoft, Nvidia, JPMorgan and Exxon Mobil.
Under a July 2025 ethics agreement, she agreed to sell some assets, including Ares Capital. However, this summer she bought a VanEck fund that’s more than 14 percent Ares, giving her an indirect stake worth roughly $29,000 to $72,000.
Lauer said OGE doesn’t consider ETF holdings a violation of her agreement’s repurchase terms.
The Sun noted her trade reports carry her signature, and that her ethics agreement requires her prior approval of certain trades even if an investment professional makes them. It also says she continues trading individual stocks, unlike many top Trump officials.
