Mamdani accused of ‘openly helping illegal aliens evade ICE’ in Spanish language video

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani sparked outrage Friday when he unveiled a social media video where the socialist shared tips in Spanish on how the public should handle encounters with federal immigration authorities.

“If you encounter ICE, these are your rights,” Mamdani, speaking in Spanish, opens the minute-and-half long video.

The social media-savvy mayor explains that ICE agents “cannot legally enter private spaces without a judicial order,” and tells the public to “look for the words ‘United States District Court’ and the judge’s signature” on the document.

He even suggests asking ICE agents to “pass the order under the door.”

Mamdani further adds that people questioned by ICE on the street have the right to remain silent, and suggests they ask, “Am I free to go?” during an encounter and not sign any documents without first consulting a lawyer.

After sharing the city’s legal support hotline, Mamdani concludes the video by noting New Yorkers have “the right to protest” and pledges to “protect that right.”

The video was blasted by Republican lawmakers and conservatives on social media.

“At no point in this video is anyone urged to abide by the laws of the United States,” Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) wrote on X. “Because it was not made for the benefit of the people of the United States.”

“Dangerous incitement full of disturbing falsehoods by communist terrorist supporter,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton posted. “This statement could put lives in danger.”

Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) called the clip “Unbelievable.”

“The Mayor of New York is openly helping illegal aliens evade [ICE] and undermine the law,” Scott argued. “Radical Democrats are doing EVERYTHING in their power to recreate Biden’s open border disaster.”

Rep. Nick LaLota (R-NY) fumed that Mamdani used “taxpayer resources to instruct illegals, in Spanish, how to evade accountability.”

“Biden’s open border, canceling Remain in Mexico, sanctuary city policies and free hotels, healthcare and lawyers for illegals isn’t compassion,” the congressman argued. “They’re policy choices that are making us more like France and House Democrats are in on it.”

LaLota added, “NYC is becoming more like Paris every day.”

Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) had a one-word response to the video: “Treason.”
