‘Borrowed time’: Expert says architect of Trump’s latest voting suit might not last long

Bill Essayli, the Trump administration prosecutor spearheading the legal case against California’s voter rolls, is probably not going to last in office long before he can prove any of the far-fetched voter fraud schemes he’s trying to litigate, Adam Klasfeld of All Rise News wrote on Friday.

Klasfeld made his note in response to Essayli clashing with another legal expert, Aaron Reichlin-Melnick of the American Immigration Council, who wrote on X that “Once again @USAttyEssayli continues to SERIOUSLY misrepresent what is going on here. As the lawsuit HE filed makes clear, DHS and DOJ identified 20,000 people they *believe* are noncitizens on voter rolls. But they ADMIT that the federal government HAS NOT investigated further! x.com/TheJusticeDept…”

“That’s not true,” shot back Essayli. “The 20k represents the number of noncitizens confirmed by a review of federal databases. This has been confirmed by @USCIS and @HSI_HQ. The data has been provided to California, and they are free to check the work. But that suggests California is actually interested in complying with federal election laws.”

Klasfeld, however, then stepped in, pointing out that there’s a lot more evidence Essayli is breaking the law by just being in office, than there is of these supposed 20,000 illegal voters in California.

“Regular reminder: Bill Essayli, an election misinformation superspreader, was disqualified as U.S. Attorney, and has been serving in the manufactured role of a ‘First Assistant’ to a vacant seat, even though the Ninth Circuit found that’s not permissible,” wrote Klasfeld. “He’s provided no public evidence that any of the 20,000 ballots were sent to noncitizens beyond DOJ’s noncommittal claim that it’s ‘likely,’ on which basis he demands the disenfranchisement of tens of thousands of voters. When DHS claimed there were 15,000 registered noncitizens in Nevada, feds revised the number to 183, and a review found the number was actually zero.”

“It’s substantially more likely that Essayli will be forced out of his position for serving there illegally than he will be able to prove any of the election conspiracies he’s been peddling at Trump’s behest since the California primary,” wrote Klasfeld, noting that, “A federal judge all but indicated this week that Essayli is in his office on borrowed time.”
