The 2 movies John Goodman thinks he ‘probably shouldn’t have done’ revealed

John Goodman admitted his regrets about his films “Blues Brothers 2000” and “The Monuments Men.”

“We were over in Germany for what, six months. In England,” Goodman recalled of filming “The Monuments Men” during a SAG-AFTRA Foundation event on Oct. 5 in New York City, per People.

“The thing is, it’s one of those movies that was like the ‘Blues Brothers 2000,’ I probably shouldn’t have done.”

Although the actor admitted “Blues Brothers 2000” was a box office flop, he said he had so much fun working on it, he didn’t care.

Goodman has the same attitude about “The Monuments Men” (2014), directed by George Clooney.

“George’s movie, I had one of the best times I’ve ever had on a film,” Goodman gushed.

The “Roseanne” alum quipped that a lesson he has learned from those experiences is that making a movie “should never be fun.”

“The Monuments Men” saw Goodman and the film’s ensemble portray a group of soldiers embedded with Allied forces during World War II who set out to recover important pieces of art that Nazi Germany forces seized during the war.

Though Goodman identified the movie as a film that made “nothing,” it grossed $156.7 million at the box office worldwide.

As for “Blues Brothers 2000” — a sequel to Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi’s 1980 hit “The Blues Brothers” — it struggled even more when it was released in 1998 and only grossed $14 million in North America.

Goodman’s candid confession came three days after his latest film, “Digger,” opened in theaters to just $8 million in North America.

The movie, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, is a satirical comedy about climate change and stars Tom Cruise as a powerful oil baron whose company causes a climate disaster.

In the new film, Goodman portrays the president of the United States.

“Everything is too critical now. I mean, not in criticism, but the way you release,” he said during the SAG-AFTRA conversation.

“It’s got to be a hit on the first weekend or it’s considered a dud. I think ‘Argo’ may be the only hit film I had. ‘The Artist,’ maybe. But yeah, none of my films open well.”
