Brooklyn store eviscerated by Kelly Clarkson insists they offer ‘something for everyone’ after ‘Pretty Woman’ moment

Brooklyn curiosity shop Art of Play insisted they offer “something for everyone” despite Kelly Clarkson calling them out for a “Pretty Woman” moment over the weekend.

Days into their social media feud with the “American Idol” alum, the store posted a pointed roundup of items for sale via Instagram.

“The median price of an item in our shop is $35,” Monday’s caption read. “But we pride ourselves on working directly with talented artisans to curate a collection of rare curiosities hard to find anywhere else in the world.”

The carousel featured a $7,500 puzzle box, a $2,5000 hummingbird flipbook machine and an $895 spinning top, among other products.

Earlier that same day, the store shared their hopes to one day laugh about their “misunderstanding” with Clarkson.

The drama began on Saturday when the Grammy winner, 44, put an “idiot” employee on blast via X.

“Just drove all the way to Brooklyn to check out this store I thought looked really rad and had a few things in mind to buy and literally was looked at as if I couldn’t afford it and was told he could find something comparable for me,” the “Voice” coach wrote.

She urged fans to visit the Brooklyn Heights establishment if they “enjoy being treated like Julia Roberts character in ‘Pretty Woman.’”

In the 1990 movie, Vivian Ward, notably, is told while shopping that she is in the “wrong place” as the associate assumes the clothes are too expensive for her.

Art of Play clapped back at Clarkson’s claim via Instagram, claiming she had requested “‘Molly,’ a one-of-a-kind singing and dancing bird automaton” that is “permanently attached to the wall” and not for sale.

The statement, released Sunday, noted everyone is “equally welcome” in the shop and concluded, “We’re going to keep our heads down and hopefully we can clear things up with Kelly someday. As a talented popular singer once said ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.’”

Clarkson, in turn, fired back, “Cool, cool. Sure, it wasn’t for sale. That’s the narrative Art of Play is gonna go with. … So you’re not only rude, you’re also a liar. Got it.”

The store doubled down Monday to “clarify some additional details” about the singer’s “five-minute visit” with an individual she claimed was “condescending.”

“We offered to show her a different singing bird automaton, made by a traditional clockmaking shop in Germany, that she could have taken home with her that day,” the statement read. “It costs about $2,000. She did not stick around long enough to see it.”

The scandal was discussed on “The View” later that same day, with Sara Haines pointing out Clarkson did not seem to be “looking for a solution” by going “nuclear.”

Ana Navarro pointed out, “When you have a platform of millions of followers … you have to be careful because it’s an uneven wielding of power and you’re hurting working people.”

A source close to Clarkson, meanwhile, told Page Six the “usually chill” songwriter must have been “livid” to make the drama public.

“Kelly is seriously one of the most down to earth people you could ever meet,” the insider shared. “She’s not someone who goes around making a big deal out of nothing. She’s just a really good, normal person who happens to be incredibly famous.”
