‘He’ll go a step further’: Author makes a jolting prediction about Trump post-midterms

President Donald Trump is already displaying signs that he’s a depressed old man, and one author predicted that those signs could be magnified if the November midterms go the way the polls currently suggest.

Kurt Anderson, founder of Spy Magazine, told Joanna Coles on a new episode of “The Daily Beast Podcast” that Trump’s recent statements about his devoted aide, Natalie Harp, suggest he’s “manifestly miserable.” Trump told reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan in an interview for their book “Regime Change” that “All of you will go off and make money … she’ll never leave me,” referring to Harp.

Anderson predicted that if Republicans get trounced in the midterms, as polls suggest they might, then Trump’s depression might begin to spiral.

“If the elections go as one hopes they do, and we have reason to believe that they will, if not as amazingly as some of the polls say, he will be more himself and God knows what forms that will take in terms of anger and depression,” Anderson said.

Questions about Trump’s mental health have swirled throughout his second administration. The president has been photographed sleeping in the Oval Office on multiple occasions and often posts rambling screeds on his Truth Social platform at all hours of the night.

Anderson said that a sizable loss for the Republicans could make Trump feel like everyone has deserted him.

“You will begin to see in November … as the weeks go on, he’ll go step further,” Anderson said. “He will feel it in that Natalie Harp sense, everyone’s left me except Natalie.”
