With the Cornell 7, celebrities want ‘vibes justice,’ not the law

Last week, Sunny Hostin did something remarkable — for Sunny Hostin.

“The View” co-host provided sober legal analysis on the fraught Cornell 7 rape allegations without bringing her usual racial and cultural baggage to the equation.

Hostin, a former sex crimes prosecutor, explained the current New York State law around voluntarily drug or alcohol use and consent, and said that, according to the available testimony, no prosecutor would have brought charges in this particular case.

She added that the media was “reporting this story inaccurately” noting that none of the accused had been charged, but their faces were “plastered all over the internet.”

Naturally, she was immediately admonished by her far lefty pals, who already declared the winners and losers without understanding the rules of the game.

They claimed that her analysis was really a defense of the Chi Phi frat brothers, who allegedly gang raped Jane Doe.

And in the show’s “Behind the Table” podcast, she used ridiculous therapy speak to backpedal on her comments.

Enter Cynthia Erivo, the gaunt “Wicked” star, who is most famous for petting her equally gaunt co-star Ariana Grande during press junkets. According to Hostin, Madame Erivo is her sorority sister and good friend who told her, “the clip that I saw doesn’t reflect who you are.’”

“Instead of leading with the law. I need to lead with empathy so that people can receive the message about the law,” said Hostin recalling Erivo’s advice to her.

Yikes.

By publicly repeating that conversation, Hostin embarrassed her dear sorority sister and quite frankly herself. She should have said, “Thanks but no thanks, Cynthia.”

Instead, she listened to the kooky drama lady, and gave away the game that Erivo and her fellow progressive celebrities are shamelessly playing.

They aren’t interested in the law nor in the facts of this particular case.

They want their pound of flesh and to further the narrative that women are under a constant threat from men on college campuses, being hunted like prey in the bedrooms of fraternity houses across the country.

Furthermore, they want a criminal justice system led by vibes, so their online mob can continue to lead with pitchforks and call it empathy.

It’s not just Erivo. A whole parade of self-righteous celebrities have come out against the Cornell 7 utilizing f bombs for extra emphasis.

“Arrest them. F–k them and f–k Cornell, too!“ wrote “Heated Rivalry” star Hudson Williams. Mariska Hargitay, who plays an NYPD sex crimes detective on television, wrote on Instagram, “Dear men and boys. If your friends tell you they’re gang raping someone, call the f–king police.”

Actors Josh Gad, Jameela Jamil and Florence Pugh raged against the school and the accused men while singer Olivia Rodrigo slammed Cornell for protecting “rapists and abusers over women.”

Rodrigo then called for “economic reparations” for sexual assault survivors. I’d like to call for criminal justice 101 for all these trained performers, who have willfully put their feelings over facts.

They want so badly to be thought of as virtuous so they commented without waiting for more information to emerge. And boy has it ever.

Jane Doe’s disturbing allegations about being drugged and gang raped came from the civil suit, asking for monetary damages, not from criminal charges.

The available testimony from the school’s very thorough Title IX investigation points to horrific choices and disgusting behavior from both the fraternity brothers and from Jane Doe. It looks like a ketamine fueled orgy that drew willing participants and led to regret for all parties in the aftermath.

With each passing day, her allegations look murkier and murkier.

However, since the case has been reopened, there is of course the chance that there’s a smoking gun that leads to charges against the accused.

That’s why due process matters.

That’s why leading with the law is imperative.

Leading with empathy for a supposed victim led us into the rape hoaxes at Duke Lacrosse and at the University of Virginia.

Don’t let “vibes” lead the way.
