A shirtless burglar was spotted bizarrely crawling inside the ceiling of a Washington state Macy’s before dramatically plunging to the floor below, where he was nabbed by cops after an hour-long standoff, insane video shows.
Employees at the store inside the Vancouver shopping mallcalled police on Sept. 30 after witnessing a man crawling above their heads, breaking ceiling tiles and damaging lights, wiring and other fixtures during his ducted pursuit, the Vancouver Police Departmentsaid on social media.
The second floor of the Vancouver Macy’s department store was evacuated while cops tried to get the overhead intruder down.
Cops perched a ladder into the overhead space and placed a mattress beneath in case the tile-hopping man fell through, according to KATU.
The ceiling scuttler ignored repeated requests from police to come down and instead continued to cause more damage from above.
After trying to talk the man down for over an hour, police said the roof rat — identified as Gabriel Hideo — finally stepped onto the ladder but quickly changed his mind and tried to scurry back up.
Officers tried pulling on the ladder to stop Hideo from climbing back up, when he dramatically fell from the ceiling, appearing to hit the ladder before crash-landing onto the mattress, video shows.
“He landed on the mattress, got up and tried to run. That didn’t work out so well,” the police department wrote on Facebook.
Hideo is seen in the footage rolling on the ground parkour style before trying to quickly scurry away from the group of cops.
Police managed to apprehend the shirtless ceiling explorer who was grunting loudly while being cuffed.
Hideo was booked into the Clark County Jail on first-degree charges of malicious mischief and burglary, in addition to an outstanding felony warrant, according to the outlet.
