President Donald Trump has spent years attacking mail-in voting. According to a panel on MS NOW, his sudden turnaround shows how worried he is about the midterms.
On “The Weekend” Sunday, the panel pointed to a Truth Social post Trump wrote Friday.
“Republicans must win the 2026 Midterm Elections, and we must use every appropriate tool whether you vote early, absentee, by mail or in person,” Trump wrote. “We must swamp the Radical Left Democrats with massive turnout. So important. Please get out and vote.”
Host Jacqueline Alemany said the post suggested the possibility of a blue wave was weighing on the president.
“You got to wonder if worries of a blue wave are actually now getting to Trump,” the host said, noting that the post came “after all that this administration has done to attack mail-in voting.”
“I thought that was a hoax,” Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Eugene Robinson joked. Another host said: “Take the phone from Natalie,” a reference to Trump aide Natalie Harp.
Robinson further added that the post shows Republicans are trying to limit their losses.
“Look, it’s all hands on deck for the Republican Party right now to kind of save what they can,” Robinson said.
Trump has called mail-in voting corrupt and has pushed for limits on it. He has also targeted states over their mail-in ballot rules this year, and Democratic officials, including Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford, have sued over it.
