Renewable Energy Super PAC Targets 7 Republicans With $15 Million War Chest

A super PAC backed by renewable energy investors plans to spend $15 million targeting seven Republicans who may be vulnerable as the political environment rapidly deteriorates for their party.

The group, known as the Invest in Tomorrow Coalition PAC, said it would focus on Representatives Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, Victoria Spartz of Indiana and four other Republicans running in Florida, Nevada, New York and Texas.

Each targeted incumbent voted to end renewable energy incentives implemented during the Biden administration. Six of them are running in what have been considered reliable Republican districts, each of which President Trump won in 2024 by between 11 and 21 points. Only in Mr. Perry’s district did Mr. Trump have a narrower margin of victory, five points, two years ago.

“When we’re done here, we will have fundamentally reshaped the electoral incentives of congressional energy politics and sent a very clear message to our would-be opponents: No matter how safe you think your seat is, if you politicize our industry, we will come for you and we will win,” said Tom Matzzie, a solar company chief executive who is chairman of the super PAC.

Invest in Tomorrow engaged in a handful of primaries this spring and summer, helping to defeat Representatives Chip Roy of Texas and Ralph Norman of South Carolina, both Republicans, as they sought statewide office.

The group also spent $2 million against Representative Andy Ogles of Tennessee, a Republican who lost renomination in a primary after Mr. Trump had campaigned with him, and Gov. Dan McKee of Rhode Island, a Democrat who was defeated in his primary.
