Jeffrey Epstein refused to release his photos of President Donald Trump with young women at his home because he feared for his own life, an author claims.
Trump biographer Michael Wolff made the claim on Tuesday’s episode of “Inside Trump’s Head,” where he and co-host Joanna Coles went back over a column Wolff recently wrote on Substack about Epstein’s fears.
Coles read aloud a passage in which Wolff recounted pressing Epstein to go public about his “great friend.”
Wolff wrote, “I tried to encourage and then to push Epstein to talk publicly about Trump, including to release photographs he had of Trump with the young women in constant attendance at Epstein’s house.”
Epstein’s answer was blunt.
“I may be a pedophile, but I don’t have a death wish,” Epstein said, according to the column, which described him as “cavalier about his situation and yet seemingly also clear-eyed.”
Coles said the line “gives you a shiver,” and Wolff answered that it does “through the perspective of what happened to him.”
Coles said that in 2016 Epstein had watched the presidential race “very carefully and somewhat anxiously.” He considered Trump “completely idiotic” but was convinced his old friend could win.
“I know Donald Trump, and he will do anything,” Wolff recalled Epstein telling him. “He is more shameless than any politician, more dedicated to getting attention than any other human being.”
Epstein “became afraid of the fact that his old friend was going to become president,” Wolff said, because he “knew so much” about Trump.
“He was full of basically dangerous information about this man who he thought would become president, who then did become president,” Wolff said.
Wolff said he put Epstein’s account of his falling-out with Trump into his 2019 book “Siege.” After Epstein read it, he called Wolff “from his Paris apartment,” Wolff wrote.
“I think that might have been a mistake on my part to say all that,” Epstein said, according to Wolff. “I might have screwed myself.”
About “a month later,” Epstein was arrested when he returned from France, and a month after that he was dead, Wolff said.
Wolff said the arrest was never explained. The Justice Department had a non-prosecution agreement with Epstein and “has never reneged” on one, he said.
“The choices are either Trump has ordered the Justice Department to arrest Epstein or the Southern District investigating Donald Trump has arrested Epstein, breaking the non-prosecution agreement in an effort to get him to testify against Donald Trump,” Wolff said.
Wolff stopped short of saying Epstein was killed.
“He could very well have seen there is no exit for me,” Wolff said. “That to me is easier to explain than the idea that he would have been murdered. But we’re in a dark place.”
