Two more leaders have left Good Good as the YouTube golf collective works through the aftermath of an ad scandal that cost it major partnerships.
Logan Spence, the group’s head of content, posted that he was leaving “after an incredible year” at the company. Spence was a high-level producer who worked on an extensive Good Good collab with General Motors, a person familiar with his work said.
Also out is Hung Tran, head of events, who posted earlier in the month that he was part of a set of layoffs. Tran said he ran events and community for the company. Reps for Good Good didn’t comment.
Good Good faced massive blowback over an ad last month meant to promote its new driver with Callaway. The promo showed Good Good cofounder Garrett Clark running toward a female member of the group, Alexis Miestowski, and pushing her to the ground. Standing over her, he said, “Do not touch my new driver,” before picking it up himself and hitting a shot.
The ad was met with swift online backlash, with critics saying it promoted violence against women. Callaway and some retailers cut ties with Good Good. The fallout led to the exits of Good Good’s CEO, president, and top marketer. Good Good took down the ad and apologized. Callaway apologized and said that while the company was not involved in its production, its review process was inadequate. Both said the ad was inconsistent with their values.
The incident was a dramatic turn of events for Good Good, which had been considered one of the biggest successes of the creator economy. Good Good had built a string of retail partnerships around its high-energy golf videos and raised $45 million last year.
Now, Good Good’s stars are looking to shore up support with their loyal fans. They recently took to YouTube to announce a plan to play golf in all 50 states in 50 days, posting daily videos.
“It’s been a crazy last month, but you guys have been doing everything and anything you can, and it does not go unnoticed by us,” one said in the video. “And because of that, we’re giving you literally the greatest content that we’ve been wanting to give you for six and a half years.”
