CNN reported that the Justice Department responded to the lawsuit against President Donald Trump’s media ban just minutes before a court-ordered deadline.
CNN reporter Katelyn Polantz said on Tuesday night that the DOJ filed a last-minute response. The filing argued that “at Donald Trump’s will, he should be able to kick whomever he would like out of the White House,” and “part of it is because there is national security information kept in the White House,” Polantz paraphrased.
CNN, MS NOW and Politico are all suing after Trump banned them from the White House last week. They’re asking U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly, a Trump appointee, for a temporary restraining order that would block the ban and restore their press access.
Polantz said that the DOJ’s filing “does spell out how they may want to challenge this.”
