Thomas Massie sparks applause with dig at ‘old’ Fox audience: ‘Watch Fox on your CPAP!’

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) spoke recently at the Ron Paul Institute’s “Front Row at the Revolution” conference in Virginia, during which he sparked applause after taking an especially brutal dig at Fox News’ aging viewers.

Massie, recalling his primary election loss in May to a GOP challenger backed by President Donald Trump, flagged a deceptive attack ad generated with artificial intelligence (AI) that depicted him entering a hotel hand-in-hand with progressive Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN). The ad also described Massie as having been “caught in a throuple in Washington.”

“They created AI ads showing me doing crazy stuff, but people believed it!” Massie decried.

The AI-generated attack ad was especially effective on older Kentuckians, according to Zachary Foust, who questioned Kentucky voters leaving the polls on the state’s GOP primary election day.

“Old people believed it, and they watch Fox News in the kitchen, they watch Fox News in the living room,” Massie continued. “In fact, they gave me an idea for my next invention! I’m gonna get it so you can watch Fox News on your CPAP machine! But I’ll insert my own ads.”

Massie’s dig drew thunderous applause and laughter from conference attendees, as did several other remarks Massie made throughout his 30-minute address.

Massie’s GOP primary race shattered records after becoming the single most expensive U.S. House primary race in history, with $37 million poured into the contest, a significant share from pro-Israeli billionaires like Paul Singer and Miriam Adelson.

Massie, who had come out strongly against U.S. aid to Israel amid the ongoing siege on Gaza — which a United Nations committee and countless human rights groups have labeled a genocide — attributed his loss largely to his foreign policy positions.

“I think it was the foreign non-intervention policy that ultimately [made them say] they had to take me out,” Massie said.
