‘You’re very agitated’: Careening conservative called out over CNN crash-out

A conservative columnist became extremely “agitated” Friday as she tried and failed to convince fellow CNN panelists President Donald Trump’s administration was not to blame for an ongoing fatal measles outbreak.

Washington Examiner economics columnist Tiana Lowe Descher both ripped and tried to defend Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as news broke of a fourth death related to measles in Pennsylvania.

“Measles cases were actually rising before Covid, in large part because you had in blue states, people like Gavin Newsom’s wife pushing for laws to relax the vaccine requirements in public schools,” she said. “Remember during the transition, when [Barack] Obama was looking at him to be his EPA director?”

But CNN host Audie Cornish replied with facts, namely that the number of measles cases has risen from 283 in 2024 to 3,294 cases so far this year.

“What you’re saying is not factually incorrect,” Cornish said. “What I’m saying is the data does not support the scale of the problem you are describing the scale of the problem in 2026 is an order of magnitude more.”

Democratic strategist Maria Cardona chimed in to argue Kennedy must be held accountable because of the powerful position he holds.

“What he is doing is going to be one of the most atrocious legacies of the Trump administration,” she said. “Those deaths are at their feet. The rise in measles in this country are at their feet.”

Doescher insisted she was not against vaccines and would vaccinate her own children, but she again shifted blame away from Kennedy.

“This is a problem that has deep roots, that the seeds were sown before Covid, right?” Doescher said. “Remember Jenny McCarthy.”

CNN’s Edward-Isaac Dovere stepped in to note Kennedy’s long-standing role in promoting anti-vaccine conspiracy theories.

“This is about the Health and Human Services secretary,” Dovere said, “who for the last 30 years has made this a major cause of his, who has written many books about it, who has championed this cause and who has done more than anyone, probably in the public sphere, to raise the profile of anti-vax.”

Doescher interrupted to again cast blame away from the administration, and Dovere cut her off.

“You’re very agitated about it,” he said, “and there is this data.”
