Irish president sends ‘human printer’ scrambling to dodge subtle snub: analysis

The Irish president who garnered cheers for standing up to President Donald Trump may have delivered a quiet snub to his ever present “human printer,” according to a reporter on the scene.

Trump’s loyal aide Natalie Harp appeared to be an “afterthought” at the end of an 11-person U.S. delegation lined up to greet Irish President Catherine Connolly at Áras an Uachtaráin, in Dublin, according to Irish Star reporter Charlie Jones.

When Harp’s turn arrived for a handshake, Jones observed something interesting — Connolly kept her distance.

“[Harp] was the last person to shake hands with Catherine Connolly,” he wrote, “even having to take a few steps towards the Irish president who wasn’t going to come to her.”

Nicknamed the “human printer” for her reported habit of handing Trump favorable printouts, Harp frequently accompanies the president and has attracted attention for her intense devotion to him.

But her presence surprised Jones for one simple reason.

“Her name wasn’t included in the list of the US delegation,” he wrote. “Instead, she must have been added later, despite being officially just an aide to the president.”

One person did not appear to believe Harp was an afterthought — Harp herself.

“She carried herself as a key part of the delegation and hardly just an aide,” he wrote. “It won’t be the last time we see her front and center in the Trump circus.”
