CNN anchor Kasie Hunt rolled a brutal supercut Wednesday, tearing into President Donald Trump’s unfulfilled promises to lower prices and make life more affordable for Americans.
“The thing that the president ran on, the thing he said he was going to do, he hasn’t done,” Hunt said on “The Arena.” “Let’s flash back and watch all of the times the president claimed — promised everyone, all of you watching, everyone in America — that he was going to lower inflation.”
The compilation showed Trump repeatedly promising to “immediately bring prices down,” “defeat inflation quickly,” and make Americans’ energy bills “come tumbling down.”
“Your energy prices will be cut in half within 12 months from Jan. 20,” Trump said in one clip.
Hunt took particular issue with Trump’s specific pledge to slash energy costs.
“That explicit promise: Your energy costs will be cut in half within 12 months,” Hunt said when the video ended. “And instead, we’re looking at diesel — the highest ever.”
Former Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee executive director Guy Cecil blamed the administration for the strain.
“Our economy is sustaining several hits, and all of these hits are hits created by the administration,” Cecil said Wednesday on CNN. “We have an administration whose economic policy is governed by tariffs and tweets.”
