Not going to stop’: Blanche vows Trump election push will outlast Supreme Court loss

Attorney General Todd Blanche vowed Tuesday that the Trump administration’s nationwide push to change mail-in voting will continue despite a Supreme Court ruling blocking its latest effort ahead of the midterms.

The moment came during a White House press conference when Blanche was asked whether the ruling would hamper the administration’s future election-related investigations and efforts.

“Our efforts and President Trump’s efforts to make sure that we have free and fair elections are not going to stop just in November or thereafter,” Blanche said. “So I expect you’re going to see that work continue.”

Blanche was peppered at his Rose Garden media briefing about the Supreme Court ruling a day after justices rejected the Trump administration’s request to let the Postal Service enforce new requirements on mail ballots for the November elections.

While the attorney general stressed that the White House would obey the court’s orders, he added that the administration would continue its broader efforts.

“Of course we’re going to comply with the Supreme Court’s decision, as we also do,” he said. But, Blanche added, “that doesn’t mean that we’re not going to do everything in this administration that we can to make sure that there are free and fair elections.”

“So while the Supreme Court did what it did,” Blanche concluded, “we’re not going to stop the work that we’re doing.”
