‘Maybe he’ll try to fire them’: Trump’s Supreme Court tirade sets off alarm bells

President Donald Trump set off alarm bells with his reaction to the U.S. Supreme Court’s third ruling against his mail-in voting order.

The 80-year-old president accused the justices of political cowardice and disloyalty Tuesday morning in a 463-word Truth Social post after they upheld a lower court’s injunction blocking new mail-in ballot verification requirements ahead of the November midterm elections.

“Republicans just got another bad decision from the United States Supreme Court, one that the Court System took forever to give,” Trump posted, “and then blamed it, in part, on no time left to implement a solution to our totally CORRUPT and out of control Mail-In voting ‘disaster,’ which is a laughing stock all over the World, and where we are the only country that has to endure such a Nation Destroying SCAM.”

“Certain Justices are petrified of these crazed and depraved Democrats, and are totally unable to show the courage necessary to save our America,” Trump added, complaining that “the Supreme Court has really let our Country down!”

The president’s screed was viewed by critics as an attack on the court’s independence and raised questions about his mental health.

“This statement by Trump outlines a dangerous future it is not merely a rejection of a ruling but a signal that in the times ahead the criterion for appointments will be personal loyalty rather than constitutional merit,” warned writer Anand Sharma. “When those in power begin to deem the highest court illegitimate the very foundations of democracy crack Do you want a democracy where courts serve as guardians of the Constitution or as a political shield for a single leader?”

“Obama mildly criticized SCOTUS’s Citizens United decision during a State of the Union and not only did Alito sit there shaking his head in disagreement, the media torched Obama for ~ violating norms ~ Trump does this stuff routinely to f—ing crickets,” grumbled popular X user scary lawyer guy.

“If your vote didn’t matter this November, Donald Trump wouldn’t be fighting this hard to take it away,” argued The Lincoln Project.

“Yeah man you publicly made a deal to pick them from someone else’s list,” reminded Vox’s Benjy Sarlin.

“He thinks SCOTUS justices are employees he interviewed. Maybe he’ll try to fire them,” suggested author Mike Rothschild.

“I agree with this: ‘It is a Court that will go down as having rendered some of the most destructive, hurtful, and damaging decisions in our Country’s history,’” noted popular BlueSky user Kate Sometimes. “But not in the way Octodon does….”

“SCOTUS makes the easiest call in the world and Trump goes nuts. Louis XIV vibes,” marveled popular X user Stephanie Willerton.
