President Donald Trump’s rambling screed about artificial intelligence on Monday instantly backfired.
Trump made several posts on Truth Social downplaying concerns about AI and its impact on the economy. His comments came at a time when some of the top AI company executives have called on the government to regulate the technology.
In one post, Trump described AI as a “hoax” similar to “climate change” and the “Russia, Russia, Russia” investigation. Trump also described the people sounding alarms about AI as “Revolutionaries, but Revolutionaries for a Bad and Evil Cause.”
“Soon you’ll find out they’re working for people that do not have the best interests of the United States in mind!” Trump wrote.
The president’s comments sparked outrage online.
“Manifestly unfit,” Aaron Rupar, who writes “Public Notice” on Substack, posted on X. “Asking this guy to be president is like asking your toddler to drive you to work. It ain’t gonna turn out well.”
“Dude who doesn’t understand how paint works is trying to explain away A.I. worries,” Christopher Moore, a New York Times bestselling author, posted on X.
“A plurality of the dumbest dumbf—- who ever dumbed returned this evil a—— to the office he tried to steal because he hates who they hate, and now the entire planet is trapped on the inside of his willfully ignorant, idiotic, imbecilic f—— tantrums,” Joanne Carducci, a political commentator who goes by “JoJofromJerz” online, posted on X.
