After repeatedly taking credit for what he claims are successes at the FBI since he took over, Director Kash Patel curiously put distance between himself and the agency under questioning.
Appearing on MS NOW with host Alicia Menendez, former high-ranking DOJ official Andrew Weissmann pointed out a comment made by Patel during a tense exchange with Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA).
According to Weissmann, there were more than a few “anomalies” in Patel’s answers, where he made claims that were patently untrue.
“And then finally, I thought of something very interesting that was maybe a slip of the tongue, but it tells you about Kash Patel when he was asked about the FBI, and he said, ‘I don’t know everything they do.’ To me, that was so interesting.“
“I can’t imagine — I worked for [ex-FBI] Director [Robert] Mueller — and I can’t imagine his [Patel] not saying we,” he elaborated. “That, to me, was such an interesting slip that he doesn’t view himself as sort of part of the FBI, that the sort of people doing the work, who are actually the people who are reducing crime, who are bringing cases, he viewed it in that sort of impersonal way they do.”
“I thought that was just a fascinating thing in thinking about where his mind is,” he added.“
Yeah, I mean, he’s not reducing crime. He’s ‘crushing crime,’’” the MS NOW host quoted Patel before quipping, “I’m not sure if you heard that the same way he was crushing beers at the Olympics.”
