President Donald Trump lashed out at Democrats Friday and insisted his proposed $5,000 payments to American adults will become reality despite mounting skepticism — including from Republicans.
“The $5,000 Trump Dividend, given to all Adults in the United States due to the fact that our Country is taking in Trillions of Dollars of Economic Development, Investment, and Pure SUCCESS, is being criticized by ‘Dumocrats’ who are hoping that it never happens,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
“But it will!” he added.
Trump pointed to the passage of his “GREAT BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL” and the payments of $1,776 provided to military personnel last year as proof that he can deliver ambitious promises.
“Everyone said it could not be done, but it was,” Trump wrote Friday. “Our Military Patriots got the money, and loved it. When I say something, I mean it!”
He continued: “The $5,000 Dividend will happen because the People of our Country deserve it.”
Trump first floated the checks while addressing the Republican midterm convention in Dallas this week. He said they would be issued only if Republicans retain control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections.
But the proposal is facing growing resistance from within Trump’s own party, including from Reps. Chip Roy (R-TX) and Thomas Massie (R-KY), who have both criticized it.
Trump still doubled down on Friday.
“VOTE REPUBLICAN — MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
