Carole Radziwill revealed that her “Real Housewives of New York City” castmates bombarded her with questions about her late friends John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette when she returned for Season 16.
The Bravo star — who was wed to Kennedy’s cousin Anthony Radziwill until he died from cancer in 1999 — recalled the renewed interest around the A-list couple after “Love Story,” the series about them, aired in February.
“It was a very emotional time for me,” she told USA Today in an interview published Tuesday, explaining that filming for “RHONY” started at the same time the FX drama was released.
“That show, really, it was like a body slam,” Carole, 63, continued. “I didn’t watch it, but you couldn’t get away from it.”
“Martha Stewart watched it,” she said. “The other women on the cast watched it and were curious about this and that.”
“It was very hard,” the Bravo star admitted. “I hadn’t planned on talking about it.”
Carole recalled writing about her connections with Kennedy Jr., Bessette and her late husband in her 2005 memoir, “What Remains: A Memoir of Fate, Friendship, and Love.”
“I think people sometimes conflate talking and writing,” she said. “What I had to say about that time in my life, I wrote in a book.”
The Bravolebrity reflected on losing Kennedy Jr. and Bessette in a tragic plane crash in July 1999, and then Anthony from cancer the following month.
Speaking about the release of “Love Story,” Carole told the outlet, “The emotions all came back. It’s a little grief that I felt, almost the whole time I was filming.”
“You’ll see the arc of that story throughout, I think, the whole season,” she added, referring to the forthcoming “RHONY” season. “Certainly in the beginning, and then it comes up really big at the end, and that was completely unplanned.”
Earlier this year, Carole revealed an unnamed ex auditioned for the part of Anthony in “Love Story,” and called her for recordings of the late businessman so he could perfect the role.
The former journalist told the New York Times that she hadn’t talked to her ex in years and it came as a shock.
The role went to Erich Bergen — who Carole clarified was not her ex. Bergen shared the screen with Paul Anthony Kelly, who played Kennedy Jr., and Sarah Pidgeon as Bessette.
Carole wasn’t portrayed in the dramatized series.
