‘South Park’ to rebrand as ‘South America’ ahead of season premiere in cheeky jab at President Trump

The creators of “South Park” plan to rebrand the popular animated series “South America” ahead of its season premiere — in a sarcastic swipe at President Trump’s recent name-changing frenzy.

The hit comedy show joked that it would now be named after the United States’ southern neighbor, in line with Trump’s feverish adoption of the word America, ahead of its new season in an X postTuesday.

“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA,” the show announced, referencing the two tech giants’ decision to rebrand the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario in line with the president’s executive order.

Trump’s recent patriotic renaming spree included the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario, newly dubbing them the Gulf of America and Lake America, respectively.

A picture of the animated series’ name change also accompanied the post, which has the word “America” slapped across “Park” in the show’s title.

The cheeky post went on to thank “South Park” parent company Paramount – snidely referring to them as “A Skydance Capitulation.”

The swipe plays at the full name of the company – Paramount Skydance – and references a settlement the entertainment conglomerate reached with Trump as part of a lawsuit he filed against Paramount Global, prior to its merger with Skydance, and CBS last year.

The suit filed by the president alleged that CBS News, which is owned by Paramount, edited a “60 Minutes” interview with Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in order to make her appear more favorable.

Paramount ultimately agreed to a $16-million payout.

The renaming is the latest topical joke by “South Park” writers Trey Parker and Matt Stone, whose humor has stirred controversy for years.

An episode parodying Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk was briefly removed from cable lineups after he was horrifically gunned down on a college campus in Utah in September 2025.

The award-winning series — set to enter its 29th season — premieres on Wednesday, Sept. 16, on Comedy Central.
