Donald Trump’s face was nearly impossible to escape at the Republican Party’s midterm convention in Dallas.
The merchandise surrounding the American Airlines Center included Trump-shaped rubber ducks, sequined jackets bearing the president’s name, and bedazzled stiletto purses.
“Donald Trump is up for sale at the Republican midterm convention, with the rally in Dallas, Texas, awash with tacky MAGA merch,” The Daily Beast reported Wednesday.
The more expensive offerings included guitars signed by Trump. One featuring “Make America Great Again” along its neck was listed for $10,750. Vendors were also selling $75 “God Bless the USA” Bibles with pictures of Trump holding the holy book.
But wait, there’s more. Trump 2028 hats were also widely available, even though the Constitution bars presidents from being elected more than two terms.
A gold-painted Mercedes parked near the convention also bore Trump’s face inside a presidential seal. His signature and rhinestones also decorated the vehicle, while a life-sized cutout of the president stood beside it, according to The Daily Beast.
“The fact that the Mercedes is a German brand seemed lost on the America First admirers,” the outlet noted Wednesday.
Trump remained the central attraction inside the Dallas arena as well. His pictures covered walls and appeared on convention credentials.
However, as the Daily Beast pointed out, there was little information about the Republican candidates actually on the November ballot, although signs supporting Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s struggling Senate campaign were being distributed.
Outside the venue, Dallas appeared largely unmoved by the event. “It appeared to be business as usual for most of the blue city,” the outlet reported Wednesday, while a hotel worker said that it did not feel noticeably busier than usual.
