Bride refuses to let flooded church dampen her big day — gets hitched in waist-high water

Till depth do us part!

An extremely gutsy bride had a truly “wet wedding” — wading down the aisle of an utterly inundated church before tying the knot in the Philippines on Tuesday.

Newlyweds Gilbert Chico and Liean Liza Chico got hitched at St. John the Baptist in Hagonoy, Bulacan, despite heavy rainfall that completely saturated the province this week, causing waist-high water to swamp the sanctuary, according to Viral Press.

“We had been looking forward to this day for so long, and we did not want the rain and flooding to stop us from getting married,” said the lovebirds.

“It may not have been the wedding we imagined, but it is certainly a day we will never forget.”

The couple braved the soaked ceremony as family and friends gathered inside the flooded church.

Footage obtained by Viral Press captured by an attendant from the choir loft shows Liean wading through murky floodwater toward the altar where Gilbert was waiting.

Guests stood in the flooded walkway, watching as the bride waded forward to meet her parents, who were ready to escort her to the groom.

Nearby photographers snapped away, capturing the happy couple as they waited for holy matrimony.

A mellow Filipino love song played in the background as the bride walked the aisle — seemingly unfazed by the muck, eyes locked on the prize.

Gilbert, dressed in a brown suit, stood by the priest at the altar as the bride approached.

The parish had advised the couple to reschedule due to the potential danger — but love, quite literally, persevered.

Their wedding came as the Southwest Monsoon continued to bring heavy rain across parts of Luzon, the largest and most populous island in the Philippines.

Bulacan Province — which is on the island of Luzon — was among the localities badly affected by the prolonged flooding and had already been placed under a province-wide state of calamity on Aug. 20.

The Filipino Office of Civil Defense said that 9.1 million people across 10 regions had been affected by the combined effects of tropical cyclones and the Hagabat, another name for the yearly southwestern monsoon season cycle.

A total of 178 cities and municipalities had been placed under a state of calamity, including 24 in Bulacan, 21 in Pampanga, 12 in Bataan and 13 in Zambales.
