The Clancy Children: A ‘Girly Girl,’ a ‘Paw Patrol’ Fan and a Happy Baby

Trial testimony offered a small window into the three young children whose lives were brutally cut short by Lindsay Clancy.

Cora Clancy, 5, “liked princesses. She had a lot of friends. And she just liked taking care of people,” her father, Patrick Clancy, said. Dawson Clancy, 3, “was into firefighters and trucks. And he liked ‘Paw Patrol,’” Mr. Clancy said. And Callan Clancy, 8 months, “was just a happy baby.”

Elaine Rossi, a nanny for the family after Callan was born, said on the witness stand that Cora had been a “girly girl” who loved arts and crafts and playing with her toys.

And she would eat green eggs and ham that her mother made for her because she liked the Dr. Seuss book, Mr. Clancy said.

She and Dawson were both active, he said, adding that both older children did gymnastics and would frequently swim. Mr. Clancy also said he would take them to ski. Cora had started playing soccer, which she “didn’t really like,” he said.

Dawson was “full of energy, rambunctious, funny, silly,” Ms. Rossi said. And Mr. Clancy, while answering questions about photos of the family’s home, said that he thought a room with ‘Paw Patrol’ decals on the wall was Dawson’s.

In family photos shown to the jury, Cora and Dawson were all smiles. Cora often wore a large bow in her hair. Callan, with his chubby baby face, was frequently sandwiched between the other two.

In the weeks before the children were killed, the family visited the Museum of Science in Boston and an indoor water park on Cape Cod.

The morning of Jan. 24, 2023, Cora had a doctor’s appointment, Mr. Clancy said. And Dawson got fully dressed by himself for the first time. Later, the children built a snowman with their mother and did art projects. Ms. Clancy texted Mr. Clancy pictures of the children in the snow.

Jenna Russell contributed reporting.
