Elizabeth Chambers says she’s “absolutely not” getting married again following her divorce from Armie Hammer.
The television personality, 44, reflected on her tumultuous split from Hammer, 40, in an interview with Us Weekly published Thursday, explaining, “I spent years getting unmarried. Why would I [get married] again?”
The exes — who share daughter Harper, 12, and son Ford, 9 — tied the knot in May 2010 and were married for 10 years before Chambers filed for divorce from the “Social Network” star in July 2020, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
They settled their divorce about three years later.
Chambers said both she and Hammer “went in full on” when it comes to their marriage and divorce was “the last thing” either of them wanted.
“And I have friends that are like, ‘Oh, I’m not even sad because I never really liked him in the first place,’” she noted. “That was not me.”
“I thought I found my person for life, and I really believed in monogamy, and I really believed in the most important thing is family, and it is,” Chambers continued.
She also shared, “I just don’t know that I would ever trust anyone to protect my heart like that again.”
Chambers and the “Call Me By Your Name” star’s divorce got messy after the actor was accused in 2021 of sexual abuse — and cannibalism —by multiple women, which he denied.
After a woman named Effie came forward and claimed he had violently raped her during their affair, the Los Angeles Police Department launched an investigation. Ultimately, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute Hammer after finding “insufficient evidence” to charge him with a crime.
Chambers said her and Hammer’s children are doing just fine after the scandal.
“I think, at the end of the day, all they need to know is that they have two parents that love them, right?” she told the outlet. “Everything else is just noise. Things that we read in headlines or things that people think are salacious news — it doesn’t really matter when it comes to kids.”
Chambers said she and Hammer were “in a really great place”in September 2022.
“We talk all the time,” she told E! News. “We’re committed fully and wholly to our children, and to being together as much as possible in a non-romantic way for our kids.”
She added, “Kids need their mom; kids need their dad. So there’s nothing we won’t do.”
Hammer spoke about the scandal to the Hollywood Reporter in June, when he compared his exile from Hollywood to getting crucified.
He recalled that his dad, Michael, urged him to take a stand against his accusers, to which he replied, “Look, dude, I’m already on the cross. The nails are in my hands. I’m not getting off this cross no matter what we do. And the more I struggle, the longer I’m going to be up here.”
