In the early morning hours Tuesday, President Donald Trump launched a new broadside at the city of Chicago, demanding that the mayor of the city and Gov. J.D. Pritzker (D) allow him to send in federal troops.
According to the president, a denial means the “city will die.”
On Truth Social, the president wrote, “Chicago violence is unchecked and at record levels. It has never been worse! This weekend 41 people were shot, 3 DEAD.”
He then asserted, “These numbers are becoming normalized. It is out of control! The city will die if the Federal Government, a fine tuned crime fighting machine, is not invited in, by the Mayor or Governor, to HELP.”
“I am awaiting the call. Nobody should be forced to live under these conditions. Like D.C. and others, they will have almost no crime, FAST! The State and City can’t do what I do. Governor Pritzker, CALL!!! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
Trump has long been at war with Pritzker, a harsh critic who is considered a contender for the Democratic presidential nominee in 2008.
