The absolute last thing I think any of us expected from notorious 2000s rocker Andrew W.K. was an experimental jazz album. And yet, here we are.
After a five-year hiatus, the enigmatic musician has unleashed Temptation to Exist, his first record since 2021’s God Is Partying. The project finds Andrew W.K. crafting a lush instrumental soundscape of cinematic jazz.
Just as he captivated us with his unique brand of hard rock/pop-metal for more than two decades, Andrew W.K. achieves that once again. Proving genre was never relevant, because it truly was the skill and vision of the artist all along. It just might be his masterpiece.
Andrew W.K. released his new jazz record, ‘Temptation to Exist’, in August 2026
One person who is very proud of Andrew W.K.’s new album is his spouse, actress Kat Dennings. The loving wife took to social media to praise the project, as well as all of the hard work that went into it.
“My husband, Andrew W.K., secretly released a noir, surreal, instrumental jazz album Friday night, “she penned. “Nobody will ever know what he went through to land here, his most exquisite musical era yet. I’ve never seen anyone who can sit down at a piano and literally play any song entirely from memory that he’s never tried playing before.”
“He’s a composing genius, and this is just the beginning,” Dennings added. “He would never think that about himself, but I’m married to him, so I can say it dammit! Temptation To Exist is available to stream on iTunes and Spotify.”
The new Andrew W.K. album has been getting a lot of support from fans
In response to Dennings’ post, many of Andrew W.K.’s fans have been showing their support for the new record. “Beautifully put and so true,” one person replied. “It’s a masterpiece who’s creator’s brilliance is only outshined by his limitlessness!”
Someone else added, “This album is so unexpected and unbelievably good holy cow. It’s giving soundtrack for if Rorschach from Watchmen had a spinoff show. I could also see them fitting it seamlessly in to Spider-Noir.”
